'Big Brother' eye in the sky

A "Big Brother" method of keeping an eye on plane passengers is being considered by jet makers Airbus.

New Scientist magazine says hidden cameras in light fittings above seats would allow the crew to monitor passengers from the flight deck.

The scheme is aimed at reassuring passengers afraid of flying since the September 11 terrorist attacks and at deterring would-be hijackers.
