Bears promiscuous to save their babies

Normally monogamous female brown bears have become more promiscuous to save their babies from marauding males.

Female bears are mating with every male they meet in an attempt to fool each of their partners that cub litters are theirs, a study by Austrian scientists in Scandinavian said.

Male brown bears normally kill "strange" litters in an instinctive reaction to spread their own genes.
