BBC plans job cuts

The British Broadcasting Corporation is to cut around 3000 jobs from its payroll of almost 28,000, most of them from administrative positions, the public broadcaster said last night.

Many BBC staff, primarily from the sports and children's programmes, will move over five years from London to Manchester in the north of England, where living costs, and thus salaries, are lower.
