New York's Bronx Zoo has welcomed a baby gibbon, the first born at the zoo for 12 years.
The baby white-cheeked gibbon (Nomascus leucogenys) is the first born to 15-year-old father Milton, but is the 11th offspring of 35-year-old mother Christine.'
Milton, Christine and their newborn live in the zoo's indoor Asian rainforest habitat JungleWorld.
The baby is the first gibbon born at Bronx Zoo, which is run by the Wildlife Conservation Society, since 2000.
White-cheeked gibbons are a critically endangered species native to parts of Vietnam, Laos, and China, and is threatened by deforestation and hunting.
