LOS ANGELES - A 1-month old baby was passed under an x-ray machine scanning hand luggage at Los Angeles International Airport.
The Los Angeles Times reported that a 56-year-old woman travelling to Mexico had placed her grandson into a plastic tray for carry-on items and slid it on to a conveyor belt.
Airport officials watching x-ray screens noticed only when the baby's outline showed up on their monitors. Doctors determined he had not received a dangerous dose of radiation.
