LONDON - Airport operator BAA said it had no plans to close Heathrow today but warned of severe delays and told passengers to stay at home if possible.
The statement came after Britain's announcement it had foiled a plot to bomb aircraft travelling from there to the United States today.
"Heathrow is not being closed but if you can cancel your flight do not come to the airport," a BAA spokesman said.
He said BAA's other UK airports, including Gatwick and Stansted, were operating normally after security was stepped up following an airline bomb threat.
BAA was bought by Spain's Ferrovial earlier this year.
