KEY POINTS:
An Austrian judge has extended Josef Fritzl's detention for a further two months, a court spokesman announced last week.
Fritzl, 73, was first remanded in custody in April after telling police he held his daughter prisoner for more than two decades in a dungeon beneath his home.
Seven children were born from the incestuous relationship, one of whom died soon after birth.
"The reasons for holding him in custody remain valid," court spokesman Franz Cutka said. In Austria, a suspect can be held in custody for up to two years pending trial.
Fritzl is sharing a prison cell with another inmate, but is being kept away from other prisoners for his own safety.
No date has yet been set for his trial.
