The Australian managers of a northern Tasmanian mine where two men are trapped underground say rescue teams are working in extremely dangerous conditions as they battle to reach the pair.
Miners made contact with the men yesterday evening, five days after they became trapped by a rock fall almost a kilometre underground.
Around 13 metres of rock still lie between them and rescuers.
AAP reported the miners spoke with rescuers yesterday through a microphone extended into the area. The pair appeared to be in good spirits despite their ordeal.
Beaconsfield mine manager Matthew Gill says they're currently looking at options to reach the men as quickly as possible.
"Conditions in the area are very dangerouns and rescuers must proceed with extreme care."
"People should not underestimate the difficulties in getting them out safely."
Its unclear when they're expecting to reach the men.
The body of the survivors' work mate, Larry Knight was brought to the surface on Thursday.
