KEY POINTS:
The man who oversaw the miraculous rescue of two miners in Beaconsfield, Tasmania, in May last year has offered to help six trapped miners in a collapsed mine in the US state of Utah.
Former Beaconsfield Mine manager Matthew Gill has emailed the NBC and a TV station in Utah offering the rescue operation support.
Six coal miners are trapped 475 metres underground, as frantic efforts to get air and food to them continue.
It is not known whether the miners are alive.
Gill, who is "happily in between jobs", said from Launceston, Tasmania, he was quite happy to offer assistance if it was welcome.
