Australian man who raped young girl inside dance studio toilet dies in jail

The man who brutally attacked and raped a 7-year-old girl in a public toilet at a Sydney dance studio has died just one year after being sentenced to life in prison for the sickening attack.

Anthony Sampieri was being treated for liver cancer at Long Bay Prison Hospital at the time of his death, according to The Daily Telegraph.

The sickening attack took place in November 2018. The 56-year-old hid inside the women's toilets next to a Kogarah dance school and waited for his victim to enter.

Sampieri punched, bound and choked the girl for almost an hour while he filmed part of the ordeal and threatened to kill her, with many of the details of the attack deemed too horrific to publish.

He pleaded guilty to 10 charges related to the attack, including three counts of sexual intercourse with a child under 10, and was sentenced to life in jail with no non-parole period in the NSW District Court.

The rapist also admitted to charges related to 94 sexually explicit and harassing phone calls he made to women in the months before the attack.
