An Australian man has been killed in a popular Cambodian resort.
John Edward Thompson, 47, was beaten to death early on Monday in the town of Sihanoukville, reports AFP.
"It is a case of murder. We are investigating the killing and we have not yet concluded what the motive was," police spokesman Kao Ratana.
Ratana would not elaborate on how Thompson was killed, but local reports say he was beaten with wooden sticks during a robbery.
A spokesman for the Australian embassy confirmed that it had been informed of the death by police.
