A man has been rescued after three days stranded in a hut surrounded by crocodile-infested floodwaters in Queensland's Gulf Country.
Innisfail man Terry Donovan, 65, was caretaking at the Staaten River Fishing and Wilderness Lodge on Dinah Island when he became isolated this week.
Mr Donovan said he had seen a four-metre saltwater crocodile lurking in waters nearby, which lunged at a wallaby sheltering on the hut's back deck.
"The first time I saw it and it saw me, it was just outside. It sank below the surface and I saw it swim under the house," he told the Cairns Post.
"I was determined I wasn't going outside, come hell or high water.
