MELBOURNE - A Victorian man who sparked a coastal sea search after jumping off a jetty south-east of Melbourne has been found - in a hospital more than 100km away.
The 24-year-old Boronia man went missing after jumping off the pier at Cowes, the main town on Phillip Island, about 2.30am (AEDT) today.
Police said his 20-year-old brother also jumped off the jetty but surfaced a short time later.
A search involving Victorian water police and the men's father was launched this morning and the missing man was found at Dandenong hospital, 107km from Cowes, about 8am (AEDT), police spokeswoman Sergeant Creina O'Grady said.
"We're not sure how he ended up at Dandenong hospital but local detectives are hoping to speak to him soon," O'Grady said.
"He did suffer some sort of hand injury and is currently undergoing surgery."
