An accused arsonist charged with lighting fires that razed more than 30 homes in southeastern Victoria, Australia, has been freed on bail.
The 23-year-old, whose name is suppressed, smiled after learning he would be bailed and his supporters clapped after his court hearing. One supporter commented: "Let them go and find somebody else."
The Crown says there is a substantial circumstantial case against the accused and that a number of witnesses saw his grey utility near the fires.
Bail was set at A$95,000 ($116,000) with a curfew.
