Army officers in East Timor are still waiting to be handed a light submachine-gun thought to have been taken from a New Zealand soldier by his killers.
Private Leonard Manning was thought to be carrying a 5.56mm Minimi machine-gun when his patrol encountered armed militia on July 24 and he was shot dead.
The gun was found with a militia group caught by the Indonesian Army in West Timor last month, but the New Zealand Army has yet to see the gun or be given the serial number.
