A central Otago man, 47, died on Saturday after the motorbike he was riding collided with a car in Moranbah in central Queensland.
The man, from Kingston, south of Queenstown, was working in the area, Moranbah Police confirmed to NZPA.
He died at the scene after his motorbike and a car collided about 1.50pm in the mining town.
Police are investigating.
The female driver of the car was not injured, but was treated for shock.
The Kingston man was the second New Zealander to die on the region's roads in less than a week.
Juanita Elizabeth Moore, 28, died on October 10 in hospital after her car hit a tree on a bend at Glenella, near Mackay. The boilermaker, from Dunedin, moved to Mackay about 12 months ago and had just started a new job in a local workshop.
A funeral service for Ms Moore will be held in New Zealand.
Her boyfriend Adrian Segaert, who met Ms Moore at a Clermont mine, said she was a strong person who never let anything stop her.
"She wasn't afraid to take the boys on and in many cases proved herself to be better".
