LONDON (AP) Amnesty International says it has filed suit before a British tribunal, arguing it may have been targeted by blanket snooping on its activities.
Amnesty said in a statement Monday that its efforts to examine human rights cases such as the CIA program to kidnap terror suspects and transfer them to third countries made them a target for spy agencies.
The human rights group says it has filed a claim before the Investigatory Powers Tribunal because it is highly likely "that the organization's communications have been intercepted unlawfully by intelligence services both in the U.K. and U.S."
The group says the tribunal, which was established in 2000 to hear complaints about the country's secret services, should hear the case in open court.
The tribunal declined to comment.
