Fiji's military commander warned the Government against going ahead with a controversial law that could give amnesty to the plotters of the 2000 coup, the Fiji Times reported.
Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama said he had information about the Army that he would reveal if it pushed on with the Reconciliation and Unity Bill, which he said would undermine the military's efforts to keep order after the coup.
The bill could allow amnesties for plotters of the May 2000 coup, including leader George Speight, who is serving a life sentence for treason, if they are judged to have acted out of political and not criminal motives.
