Boris Johnson has walked away from a television interview after he was challenged to name the President of South Korea, Park Geun Hye. The British Foreign Secretary said he was not prepared to get into "a pub quiz about leaders around the world" with Sky News presenter Dermot Murnaghan. Initially, he was happy to respond when asked who the French Foreign Minister is - correctly identifying him as "mon ami" Jean-Marc Ayrault. But when pressed to name the South Korean President, Johnson appeared to be stumped.
Alec Baldwin says if Donald Trump releases his tax returns, he'll stop impersonating him. The actor hit back after the US President-elect blasted his performance on Saturday Night Live. Trump, who has repeatedly criticised the show and Baldwin's impersonation, tweeted that the show is "unwatchable! Totally biased, not funny." He added that "the Baldwin impersonation just can't get any worse. Sad." Baldwin replied, through the Twitter handle of the Alec Baldwin Foundation, "Release your tax returns and I'll stop."
The Syrian Army and allied militia have advanced towards rebel-held areas of Aleppo's Old City, thrusting deeper into opposition parts of the city in a relentless attack which a military source said would be over in a matter of weeks. Aleppo shook from the sound of explosions throughout the day.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says his support for a two-state solution with the Palestinians remains the same after Donald Trump's victory in the US presidential election. Israeli hardliners have since the election called on Netanyahu to step up Israeli settlement construction, annex parts of the occupied West Bank or even abandon the idea of Palestinian independence.
