KEY POINTS:
MELBOURNE - The man accused of Monday's fatal shooting in Melbourne missed a court appearance this morning as he was undergoing surgery at Melbourne's St Vincent Hospital for an injury to his left arm.
Christopher Wayne Hudson had been due to appear at Melbourne Magistrates Court today to face charges, including murder.
Hudson, 29, had been on the run since Monday's fatal triple shooting in Melbourne's city centre but gave himself up yesterday.
Brendan Keilar, a 43-year-old solicitor, died in the attack in the busy peak period.
Dutch tourist Paul De Waard and Kaera Douglas were also shot and remain in stable conditions in hospital.
Hudson has been charged with one count of murder, two of attempted murder, one count of unlawful imprisonment and one count of intentionally causing serious injury.
Police prosecutors sought an extension of time to prepare the brief of evidence against Hudson due to the number of the witnesses to be interviewed, and so they could view CCTV footage.
Two of the alleged victims had also not yet been spoken to by police, the court was told.
Hudson was remanded in custody in his absence to August 29, 2007.
