ALGIERS, Algeria (AP) Algeria's state news agency has announced the arrest of some 20 people accused of supporting armed Islamic groups along the country's border with Tunisia.
Monday's report said the arrests, which involved suspects ranging in age from 25 to 80, took place over the past 24 hours near the town of Tlydjen, 50 kilometers (30 miles) south of the city of Tebessa.
Just across the border in Tunisia is Chaambi mountain, where militants have been battling Tunisian forces for the past year, killing several soldiers.
Since Tunisia's struggle with jihadists began, Algeria has beefed up its forces on the border to prevent militants from crossing into the country.
The recent arrests took place after two armed militants were killed there last week.
