Alert as volcano awakes

Peru has declared a state of emergency after southern towns were showered by ash from the Ubinas volcano and asked the military to help evacuate the poor.

Toxic gases from Ubinas, inactive for almost 40 years, have already killed livestock and polluted water sources.
