PRISTINA, Kosovo (AP) The European Union rule of law mission in Kosovo says a man suspected of stealing more than 1.1 million euros' ($1.5 million) worth of luxury watches in Bahrain has been extradited from Albania to Kosovo.
The ethnic Albanian Kosovo citizen, identified as Ekrem Gashi, was allegedly part of a gang of nine men who entered a Rolex shop in a Bahrain shopping center disguised as women wearing black abayas and hijabs traditional Muslim floor-length covering and head scarves.
Some 80 watches were stolen in the armed heist. Most were recovered when two suspects were arrested in Bahrain. Five suspects are in custody in Kosovo, which plans to try them, while two remain at large.
An EU prosecutor is investigating the case alongside Kosovo authorities.
