Insurgent attacks in Afghanistan jumped by 50 per cent in the first half of 2008.
The data from the Afghanistan NGO Safety Office, a group funded by Western donors that advises relief groups on security, said it had logged 2056 insurgent attacks in the first six months, a 52 per cent increase from 1362 incidents in the same period of 2007.
The report said that 19 aid workers have been killed this year, compared to 15 in all of 2007.
