Indonesian President Megawati Sukarnoputri has declared the end of martial law which has been in force in Aceh province for the past year but pledged to continue to hunt down separatist guerrillas.
Indonesia imposed martial law on May 19, 2003, and launched a huge military offensive to crush the Free Aceh Movement which has been fighting for independence since 1976.
