Black labrador puppy Amani will have a tough job keeping up with his foster brothers - cheetah cubs Winspear and Kamau.
Dallas Zoo hopes the pup, whose name means peace in Swahili, will provide a calming influence for the cats as the trio grow up together.
Zoo experts believe the typically laidback nature of the labrador will settle the cheetah brothers in public.
Winspear and Kamau will join the zoo's Animal Adventures outreach programme to help teach the public about their highly endangered species. The pair were born on July 8 in Virginia.
