6.6 magnitude quake in Micronesia

An earthquake measuring 6.6 on the Richter scale has been detected in the Pacific island group of Micronesia, the Hong Kong observatory said.

The quake was classified as "severe".

There were no immediate reports of tsunamis or damage on nearby islands.
