SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) Federal authorities say they have detained 38 Haitian migrants aboard a wooden boat near Puerto Rico.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection said Tuesday that three Dominican migrants also were in the group discovered just northwest of Mona Island, which lies between Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic.
The U.S. Coast Guard repatriated all the Haitian migrants while agents arrested two Dominican migrants previously deported from the U.S.
The number of Haitian migrants headed to the U.S. territory of Puerto Rico has increased greatly in the past year, with authorities detaining 57 of them just last week.
