The person responsible for shooting a baby koala and its mother in Queensland could face two years' jail or a fine of A$300,000 ($378,000), the state's sustainability minister says.
The baby koala is fighting for his life in a wildlife hospital after he and his mother were shot with a slug-gun.
The joey's mother was in stable condition after surgery to remove a slug pellet from her leg.
