Southern Cross Austereo has cancelled its annual Christmas party over its Sydney radio station 2Day FM's ill-fated royal prank, according to reports.
The event, planned for this Thursday for about 200 people, has been abandoned out of respect for the family of the London nurse who took her life three days after being fooled by the station's hoax call, Fairfax Media reported on Tuesday.
"All costs that were to be incurred we are donating to Beyond Blue and Lifeline," a network spokeswoman was quoted as saying.
Public backlash over last week's stunt, in which presenters Mel Greig and Michael Christian pretended to be the Queen and Prince Charles to get information about the Duchess of Cambridge, prompted the axing of the radio show, the suspension of all advertising and an internal review of company policies and processes.
Austereo could not be contacted on Tuesday.
