20 years' jail for ex-soldier

A former Australian soldier has been sentenced to 20 years in jail in Afghanistan for murdering a colleague.

Robert Langdon had been sentenced to death for shooting dead a colleague while working to protect a supply convoy under attack from the Taleban in May 2009.

He appealed and was spared the death penalty, the Australian newspaper reported.
