BEIJING (AP) Two employees of Beijing's Forbidden City were stabbed to death Friday in a fight at a worker's cafeteria inside the famed tourist attraction, police said.
A stabbing report was received shortly before noon Friday and responding officers found one person dead at the scene, a police statement said. Another person died after receiving medical attention, it said.
An injured suspect surnamed Zheng was found in a nearby office and sent to a hospital. The two victims and the 49-year-old suspect were identified as employees of one of the many departments within the vast complex. No information was given about a motive.
The 600-year-old former imperial palace in the heart of the Chinese capital is made up of more than 980 buildings and houses almost 2 million historical artifacts. It receives about 60,000 visitors daily and employees hundreds of curators, caretakers and other workers.
