BRATISLAVA, Slovakia (AP) Slovakia's government says two tourists arrested in Iran in May have been freed and are on their way home.
The government said late Thursday that the two, together with Prime Minister Robert Fico and Foreign Minister Miroslav Lajcak, boarded a special government plane that took off from Tehran's airport and are expected to land in the Slovak capital of Bratislava early Friday.
Fico and Lajcak led the talks with Iranian officials, including First Vice President Eshaq Jahangiri in efforts to liberate the pair. They were members of a group of eight who entered Iran as tourists and were arrested for "unconventional behavior" and "breaking the laws."
The other six were freed in September.
