Situation:
Today a ridge of high pressure over northern and central New Zealand moves away to the east as a low deepens in the Tasman Sea, and a front moves onto Fiordland. Tomorrow, the front pushes north reaching central New Zealand. Meanwhile, the low ends the day over the Cook Straight On Thursday, the deep low pulls away to the east followed by a west to southwest flow. On Friday, a very cold southerly flow is expected to affect southern and central New Zealand, while showery westerlies affect northern New Zealand. This flow persists through Saturday with the cooler temperatures spreading northward.
