Situation:
A complex low pressure system lies over central New Zealand today. The low moves slowly east tomorrow and a trough moves over the North Island, while a narrow ridge of high pressure moves onto the lower South Island. The low pressure system moves east away from the country and weakens on Monday, while an active front moves out of the Tasman Sea and across much of the South Island. The front quickly crosses central and northern New Zealand on Tuesday, followed by a showery westerly flow that lasts through Wednesday.
