A southerly flow eases as a ridge of high pressure spreads across the country today and remains in place on Monday. On Tuesday, northwesterlies strengthen over the south of the South Island while a ridge covers the North Island. On Wednesday a strong moist northwesterly flow affects the South Island ahead of a front, while the ridge moves away to the east. The front moves northeast over the South Island on Thursday.
