The Whittaker's Big Egg Hunt is organised to raise money for Auckland's Starship children's hospital. The super-sized egg painted by Herald cartoonist Rod Emmerson is just one of 100 that will be placed throughout city centres - in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch. For those keen to get in on the hunt, there are prizes for those who find the eggs, on display until April 7. The eggs will also be auctioned - 80 on Trade Me and 20 at a gala cocktail evening on March 31.

Thousands of people lined Ponsonby Road tonight for the third and largest Auckland Pride Parade. The parade is seen as the high point of the Auckland Pride Festival and was the first year police staff were given permission to march in uniform. This year's parade theme was Gods & Monsters and featured 58 floats led by the Dykes on Bikes.

A right-to-die advocacy group has issued new video footage of Brittany Maynard to mark what would have been her 30th birthday, three weeks after her death. In the video, recorded in August, Maynard calls on more states to enact legislation allowing terminally ill people to end life on their own terms. Maynard, terminally ill with brain cancer, grabbed the national spotlight for about a month after publicising that she and her husband moved to Portland so she could use Oregon's law to end her life on her own terms.
