The voices and creativity of youth, from new-entrant youngsters to tertiary students, will fill Wellington's Michael Fowler Centre for 18 days next month.
Artsplash, the city's young people's arts festival, is in its 15th year. It started as a one-day community arts event and now involves about 8000 students and includes exhibitions from 60 schools.
The event runs from August 1 to August 18 and concerts include four dance features and four choirs, each made up of 800 children.
Art exhibitions will showcase work by young painters, sculptors and potters with artwork ranging from paintings to three-dimensional hangings, banners, and masks. About 1000 art pieces will be on display.
For the Young at Heart, a free concert mainly aimed at entertaining the senior members of the community, will be held on August 8, from 12.30pm to 2.30pm.
