By the time you read this I'll be in Vietnam. I'm booked in for a cycling tour there with Intrepid Travel — and I've been looking forward to it for a long time. I love to ride, and have long wanted to visit Vietnam — the country that can't be beat.
If you like to ride, then cycling is a great way to see a new country. You sweat a little for every yard you cover, you learn the intimate contours of the bumps in the road and local kids laugh when they see you arrive in their hometown (or maybe that's just me). As a bonus, I should come home a little trimmer.
Whatever the activity that drives your travel (be it bikes, cameras, books, hiking, food or fashion), there's bound to be a way to use it to forge connections with locals and the landscape you're in.
