KEY POINTS:
Fancy a weekend trip to Taranaki - which brands itself as "Taranaki like no other" - soaking up the region's burgeoning pamper industry or creative arts scene as guest of Venture Taranaki Trust, the Regional Development Agency, and Herald Travel?
Air New Zealand will provide return air tickets for two to New Plymouth and Venture Taranaki will hone an itinerary to suit the winner's personal preferences.
They are offering a choice of two basic packages: pampering or arts and culture.
Indulge your frazzled senses at an holistic eco-friendly retreat, take a tour around the Sugar Loaf Marine Reserve, relax in total comfort along a Surf Highway 45 surf beach, take a whirl above the region in your own helicopter; soak in the soft 29,000 year-old mineral water and meander Pukekura Park in your own guided buggy.
Check out Taranaki's integrated knowledge centre Puke Ariki, see the displays at Tawhiti Museum, visit the famed Govett-Brewster Art Gallery, home to the Len Lye collection, explore the many local galleries where renowned local artists work and display their art and in between times savour the region's great food and scenery.
The package will include a rental car, two nights' accommodation, Saturday night hosted dinner, fully paid activities and information to make your stay something special. The trip can be taken at any time - subject to availability - from January 1.
To enter, put your name and address on the back of an envelope, add the slogan being used to brand Taranaki, and post to: Taranaki Adventure, Travel section, NZ Herald, PO Box 3290, Auckland. Entries must be received at the Herald office by Monday, December 10. The winner will be advised and the result published in the Herald (there will be no Travel section) on Tuesday December 18.
