SilkAir, Singapore Airlines' regional carrier, is celebrating its 20th anniversary by offering some lucky Herald Travel readers the chance to experience the magic of travel in Asia.
It is offering a $10,000 prize package of return economy air tickets for four flying Singapore Airlines to Singapore, a two-night stopover in Singapore, including accommodation and several excursions, and four return economy air tickets to any of SilkAir's 28 destinations in Asia.
That could be Siem Reap and the ancient Cambodian temples of Angkor Wat; Chengdu, the home of China's giant pandas; the Indian seaside city of Kochi, gateway to the tranquil waterways of Kerala; Indonesia's island paradise of Lombok; the mysterious city of Yangon, hub of Myanmar; the extraordinary Nepalese capital of Kathmandu; the fabulous Thai beach resort of Phuket; the beautiful island of Langkawi in Malaysia; the Vietnamese city of Danang and the famous Marble Mountains; or colourful Cebu, oldest city in the Philippines.
The winners will be responsible for their own arrangements in whichever destination they choose.
All you have to do is send in a description of no more than 150 words outlining the most magical travel experience you've had.
The 10 best entries will be selected by Herald Travel editor Jim Eagles and nzherald.co.nz travel editor Eveline Jenkin. The winner will then be chosen from those finalists by Singapore Airlines general manager Looi Tein Po.
Enter online or post your magic moment to Silk Air Competition, Herald Travel, PO Box 3290, Auckland.
Entries must be received in the Herald office no later than noon on April 28.
All entries should include the name of the entrant and a daytime phone number.
No part of the prize is transferable or redeemable for cash; tickets will be valid one year from the date of the win; travel will not accrue frequent flier points; bookings are subject to availability (including blockout periods in June, December and January); on the ground costs outside of the prize package (including any costs not specified in the prize package such as government and airport taxes documentation, visas and insurance) are the winner's responsibility.
The winner will be notified by Singapore Airlines by phone and mail, and the name of the winner will be published in Herald Travel on May 12.
