If you've been wondering what the fuss is about "wild foods", now's the time to give your palate a new sensation.
The Monteith's Wild Food Challenge starts in Auckland on June 5, and chefs in 33 restaurants will be creating a two-course meal using New Zealand's finest wild food, which is essentially non-farmed produce reared and processed under usual health and safety regulations (excluding endangered species, of course).
The challenge includes matching each course with a glass of Monteith's beer from a choice of five craft brews. Diners have until June 21 to sample such delights as Taro & Tusk, Billy Goat Gruff or Hare's to Beer. A full list of restaurants and dishes can be found on-line.
