A survey released this month by New World Wealth has revealed Las Vegas' luxurious Bellagio is the No.1 hotel choice for the world's wealthiest people. The casino resort, in an Italian-inspired, 36-storey tower, features a manmade 3.2ha lake featuring dancing fountains, a custom-built showroom for Cirque du Soleil performances, several outdoor pools, a botanical conservatory, fine art gallery, spa and several restaurants.
Second favourite was New York's The Plaza, a century-old hotel that has a castle-like exterior, elegant, French-style rooms, a butler service, spa, acclaimed restaurants and a champagne bar.
Others on the list are London's Mandarin Oriental, Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc, Antibes, and Raffles, Singapore.
The survey also revealed the trains du jour of the seriously rich. The luxurious Easter20n & Oriental Express journey through Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand came in at No.1. Think five-star service, endless cocktails and fine dining. South Africa's Blue Train was No.2 on the list, followed by the Pride of Africa, India's Maharajas' Express and the Orient Express through Europe and Turkey.
