Though its name is a tongue twister, Manginangina is one of the few wheelchair accessible forest walks in Northland.
Set in the Puketi Forest, the popular kauri walk has been significantly structurally upgraded over winter. More than 50,000 visitors use the elevated wooden walkway annually, allowing them to get close to the giant, ancient trees while protecting the delicate root systems.
The walk takes about 15 minutes. Turn off State Highway 10 into Pungere Road, and drive 13km (Pungere Rd is just north of Waipapa township.)
