The difficult and time-consuming job of finding easily accessible places when travelling in Australia has been done for those confined to a wheelchair.
Three guides are now available from different outlets. The first, Easy Access Australia, can be ordered from bookshops.
The Wheelies Handbook of Australia by Colin James is available via e-mail (see link below).
Another guide book, Accessible Queensland, gives details of information services, equipment suppliers, personal care, transport and accessible public infrastructure throughout the state. One of 20 free copies of this guide can be obtained through disAbility Information North Shore Inc, the Richardson Centre, 431 Lake Road, Takapuna in Auckland. Telephone or fax, (09) 488 0210.
For those who are particularly adventurous, diving at the Great Barrier Reef is also possible. Contact your travel agent for more information, or email Quicksilver Cruises (link below).
