What type of suitcase do you carry?
A 15-year-old Eastpak duffel bag that has been brilliant and accompanied me to countless destinations.
What's always in your hand luggage?
A good book, water and if I'm on long-haul, the necessary toiletries to make you feel semi-human on arrival.
Are you a planner or last-minute packer?
Used to be very impulsive and last-minute but that doesn't work now with a family, so a planner.
What's the best thing you've brought back from a trip?
Three boxes of Cohiba cigars from Havana. I sold two when I got back to London and that covered the cost of the trip.
Favourite or most exciting airport to land in?
Kai Tak, the old Hong Kong airport, was exciting enough to land in during good weather, but throw in an approaching typhoon and night time and the first port of call on arrival was the bar.
Most memorable trip?
Two weeks in Sri Lanka. A beautiful country and people with one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in, the Galle Face in Colombo. Added to that, it is where I met and fell in love with my future wife.
What do you do while on the plane?
Have a Bloody Mary (or two), read, eat, wine, movie and sleep - in that order.
