A plan. I always plan my trips.
What type of suitcase do you carry?
A pull along suitcase, the same as our crews use.
What's always in your hand luggage?
An iPhone and an iPad.
Are you a planner or last-minute packer?
A planner. I start at least two days before my trip.
What's the best thing you've brought back from a trip?
Lots of good memories, especially of good meals. I like to eat, so sometimes I bring back a few extra kilos, which is maybe not a good thing.
Favourite or most exciting airport to land in?
Hong Kong International Airport, because it is home. It is also very efficient and has good shopping and good food.
Best packing tip?
Travel light, although I don't always follow my own advice.
Most memorable trip?
My most memorable trip was arriving in Auckland just over a year ago. I had been here before some years ago with my parents to go to a wedding, but this time I was arriving in a new country and to a new job.
What do you do while on the plane?
I watch movies or sleep. I also pay a lot of attention to the onboard service, the meals and the entertainment, whether I am on Cathay Pacific or other airlines. I regard that as part of my job.
Ken Chiu is New Zealand and Pacific Islands manager for Cathay Pacific Airways.
