Do you travel light or heavy?
Usually light, but opera scores weigh you down.
Cattle or first class?
What's first class?!
I can't travel without...
Camera, earplugs, iPod and hot water bottle.
What type of suitcase do you carry?
Large, hard-shelled, super-light silver one.
What's always in your hand luggage?
Hot water bottle, music, peppermint tea and fresh fruit (to be discarded before arrival - $200 is an expensive apple!).
What's the best thing you've brought back from a trip?
Photos, and lots of Venetian murano glass.
Favourite or most exciting airport to land in?
Singapore - orchid gardens and great facilities.
Best travel tip?
Explore the many hidden treasures not in the guide books; know your camera so you can make the most of every shot and find out where the locals eat.
Most memorable trip?
A two-week road trip with two of my best friends in south-west England. We had no schedule and one day discovered a seaside Cornish village called Polperro. It was like stepping back in time, and we returned time and time again for Christmas. In New Zealand, it would be family holidays at Ohope Beach.
What do you do while on the plane?
Eat, doze, watch movies, walk around and only panic if the crew are belted in.
