The Oblivion Express is a day-long travel adventure of the escapist, laid-back kind (adults only). Passengers are treated to wine, food, readings and performances at historic stops up the line to Helensville and back.
The emphasis is on fun, nostalgia and light entertainment. Each year the event attracts an audience lured by the charming mix of location, locomotion and literature.
The Oblivion Express leaves Auckland at 9.30 am and stops at New Lynn Community Centre, Chapel of Faith in the Oaks, Waimauku, Helensville Station and Swanson Station.
At each stop there are readings and entertainment. The train arrives back in Auckland at 5.30 pm.
