Wanaka car hire

Wanaka is becoming a popular gateway to the Southern Alps and on July 1 Wanaka Airport gets its first national rental car service.

The Maui-Skiwi rental service will run under an agreement with Wanaka Flightseeing.

To celebrate, early birds who book a vehicle from Wanaka before June 25 receive a free bonus day's car hire and a lift pass.

Vehicles include 4WD Toyota Prados and Mitsubishi Lancers, and extras such as snow chains and ski racks will be standard on vehicles rented by skiers.

Prices start at $51 a day. Skiwi can also provide lift passes starting from $45 a day.
